Optimizing empty flights with GDS

Moove, iJet and Euroairlines join forces to optimize empty flights in business aviation

In the business aviation sector, empty flights - those journeys made without passengers after an assignment - represent both an economic and an environmental challenge. To address this issue, French startup Moove has teamed up with airline distributor Euroairlines and Spanish operator iJet. Together, they are launching an ambitious project to optimize aircraft occupancy on these under-used routes.

Their idea is simple but innovative: to offer empty seats on these flights to a new clientele via well-known platforms such as Google Flights, Skyscanner or Booking.com. By making these flights available to the general public, the three companies hope not only to improve the efficiency of airline operators, but also to offer business travelers a premium experience at a potentially reduced cost.

A positive environmental impact

Beyond the economic aspect, this initiative aims to reduce the carbon footprint of business aviation. By maximizing the number of passengers per flight, the project contributes to a reduction in CO2 emissions per passenger. Arthur Ingles, co-founder and CEO of Moove, underlines the importance of this initiative: "We want to offer operators concrete solutions to make these hard-to-sell flights more profitable, while reducing their ecological impact."

A new opportunity for business travelers

For iJet, which operates a fleet of Citation Jet private jets, this partnership is an opportunity to make better use of its aircraft on routes between England and Spain, by reaching a new clientele. "Our jets are real productivity tools for companies," explains Diego Moser, CCO of iJet. "This optimization test marks the start of a new era in air mobility."

Euroairlines, for its part, sees this partnership as an opportunity to diversify its offer by proposing an attractive service for business travellers. Antonio López-Lázaro, the group's CEO, affirms that this initiative is part of a desire to innovate in air distribution.

With this initiative, Moove, iJet and Euroairlines are showing that it is possible to reconcile economic optimization and respect for the environment, while offering a new experience to business travelers. This project could well herald a future in which business aviation becomes more efficient and sustainable.
